This light quantity adjusting device includes a plurality of aperture blades 21 between first and second substrates 11 and 41 having an optical path opening; a notch 35 openably/closably supporting a drive ring 31 for opening/closing the aperture blades, and being recessed in the opening/closing trajectory of the blades in the ring-shaped drive ring; and a driven tooth-like part 35g formed at the notch end face. The driven tooth-shape part is engaged with a driving gear 53 of a drive unit. In this case, guide members (a second sliding ring 36 and a cover member 39) for backup supporting the blades of the notch part are provided between the notch part of the drive ring and the blades.
