To measure correctly incident light quantity of light output from a light guiding rod to a optical fiber, by eliminating individual difference of light guiding rods and by measuring no amount of leaked light resulting from internal defects or cracks.
A light quantity monitor detects the irradiation light quantity of illumination light irradiated from a light source to an irradiated object, and a light source device uses the same. The light quantity monitor prepares a polygonal columnar light guiding rod 7 homogenizing the incident light from one end side as the light incident end face to emit from other end side as the light emitting end face and an optical fiber 2 guiding the light emitted from the light guiding rod concerned to the irradiated object, so as to deploy the light guiding rod concerned and the optical fiber concerned at a distance from counter-face surface. The light quantity monitor is configured to receive the light reflected from the light incident end face of optical fiber at a light sensor 15 in order to detect the light quantity received at the light sensor concerned as the irradiation light quantity.
