To provide a light receiving unit having high responsiveness in optical wireless communication with a simple and inexpensive configuration, and to provide optical communication equipment using the same.
The light receiving unit includes: a two-dimensional imaging means for detecting the light quantity of synchronization signal light C1 received from the outside; a signal period identifying means for identifying a three-time imaging period T31 as a low light quantity imaging period TL when the light quantity of the synchronization signal light C1 is low, a high light quantity imaging period TH when the light quantity of the synchronization signal light C1 is high, or a transition time imaging period TM between a high light quantity period T11 and a low light quantity period T12 on the basis of light quantity integral values of the synchronization signal light C1 respectively detected during the three-time imaging period T31; and a frame period adjusting means for adjusting the length of an imaging frame period T3 so as to approximate the light quantity integral values of the synchronization signal light C1 detected during the transition time imaging period TM identified by the signal period identifying means to a synchronization target value Ref. The optical communication equipment is provided with the light receiving unit and a light emitting unit for emitting signal light to the light receiving unit.
