PURPOSE: To provide a light shapes/wire rod rolling line and a method for operating this rolling line.

CONSTITUTION: An after-rolling block 11 of at least another set of two roll stands is prepared downstream of a finish rolling block 1. Between the finish rolling block 1 and the after-rolling block 11, cooling and/or soaking devices 17, 18 are inserted which execute skin-pass of the stock to be rolled. Regarding a first roll stand 11' of the after-rolling block, ahead of rolling of the stock to be rolled through the initial pass, a roll stand 10 of an outlet side of the finish rolling block is somewhat opened to a little reduce extracting velocity of the material to be rolled. After rolling of the material to be rolled in the after-rolling block by the initial pass is finished, the roll stand of the outlet side of the after-finish rolling block is restored to the prescribed caliber opening.
