PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanning observation system capable of smoothing preoperative preparation.SOLUTION: The optical scanning observation system 1 comprises: an endoscope 2 for scanning a subject with illumination light projected from a light source unit 21 and receiving return light; a first storage unit 16 mounted in the endoscope, and comprising a first storage region which stores P positional information sets among S positional information sets corresponding to the illumination light projection position which has been used to actually scan the subject, with the illumination light projected thereon, by the endoscope through a predetermined scanning path; a second storage unit 25c mounted on the main body device to which the endoscope is connectable, and storing in sequence luminance values obtained by detecting the return light; and an image generation unit 25d for reading P positional information sets stored in the first storage region after the main body device is powered on, and mapping the luminance values stored in the second storage region and corresponding to the P positional information sets, to the pixel positions corresponding to the P positional information sets to generate a first image, and then displaying the first image on a display unit.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
