Title:
LIGHT SIGNAL EXCHANGE SWITCH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04255831
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To exchange light signals without dispersing them spatially by branching a light signal into respective wavelength components, and optionally rotating the phases of the respective wavelength components and coupling the respective wavelength components which are outputted. CONSTITUTION:A wavelength selective branching and coupling device 143 branches the light signal 112 following a light signal 111 on an optical path A-C into components with wavelengths lambda11 and lambda12 and components with wavelengths lambda23 and lambda22. Further, a phase rotator 141 rotate the phases of the components with the wavelengths lambda111 and lambda12 and a phase rotator 142 rotates the phases of the components with the wavelengths lambda21 and lambda22. Then a wavelength selective branching and coupling device 144 couples the separated wavelength components lambda11 and lambda12, and lambda21 and lambda22. Further, the phase of a light signal from 115 to 114 passing through an optical path A-B-D is not rotated and a half-mirror 122 is so arranged that the phase-rotated light signal 113 and phase-unrotated light signal 114 are outputted while interferring with each other.
