Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device that has a practical size and has reduced speckle, and a projector including the light source device.SOLUTION: A light source device comprises: a laser light source that emits laser light; a splitting element that splits the laser light into a plurality of pencils of rays including a first pencil of rays and a second pencil of rays; a group delay generating element that is provided on the subsequent stage of the light splitting element; and a light synthesis optical system that is provided on the subsequent stage of the group delay generating element. The group delay generating element includes a waveguide formed of photonic crystal, and the waveguide is provided on a light path of the first pencil of rays.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
