Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light weight gypsum board markedly reducing generation of dust at processing.SOLUTION: A cured gypsum core formed from slurry having water/stucco ratio of 0.7 to 1.3 and containing a gypsum crystal matrix has a fine pore size distribution consisting of (i) a water gap having a fine pore size of a diameter of less than 5 micron, (ii) an air gap having the fine pore size of the diameter of at least 5 micron to 50 micron, (iii) an air gap having the fine pore size of the diameter of 50 micron to 100 micron, and (iv) an air gap having the fine pore size of the diameter of over 100 micron occupying at least 20% of the total gap volume of the cured gypsum by measuring gaps by using a scanning electron microscope photograph image, the cured gypsum core is formed by having an average hardness of the core of at least 11 pound (about 5 kg) measured according to ASTMC-473 and the board has a density of 31 pcf (about 500 kg/m) or less.
