To provide a lighting device capable of obtaining a high emission luminance (illuminance) by effectively utilizing light emission from a light emitting element, and to provide an electronic apparatus and to provide a projection type display device including the same.
A lighting device 100 is provided with a light emitting element 110 having an LED 101 as a solid light source and a fluorescence substance 103 to be excited by light emission from the LED 101, and a reflection member 105 having retroreflective ability for reflecting non-effective light which is not irradiated to a prescribed region out of emitted light from the light emitting element 110, toward the light emitting element 110. The light emitting element 110 undergoes a surface treatment for taking in the incident light efficiently on an incident side surface where the retroreflected light from the reflection member 105 enters.
