The lighting equipment is provided with a light control element 2, where a prism 1, in the shape of a triangular prism having a cross section of an almost rectangular equilateral triangle, in the shape of a triangular pyramid having a bottom face of an almost isosceles triangle, in the shape of an almost regular triangular pyramid, or in the shape of an almost regular hexagonal pyramid, which is arranged continuously. The inclined surface side 1a of the prism 1 is installed on the side of a light source part 8, and a reflecting mirror 3 is installed on the planar side 1b of the prism 1. Thus, light 10 incident from the inclined surface side 1a of the prism 1 is transmitted and light 10 incident from the planar side 1b of the prism 1 is reflected. As a result, the light 10 to be returned to the light source part 8 side after reflected by the reflecting mirror 3 is totally reflected by the prism 1 and does not return to the light source part 8, thereby increasing illumination efficiency by about 20%.
