To provide a lighting system suitable for miniaturizing and thinning an electronic apparatus while having in-plane uniformity of emission intensity and high color reproducibility, and the electronic apparatus carrying it.

The lighting system includes a flat light guide plate 12, light sources 14 provided on the side face of the light guide plate 12 to enter light in the light guide plate 12 from the side face, and a lens sheet 16 disposed on one surface of the light guide plate 12. The light guide plate 12 includes a prism 18 on the one surface, which reflects light propagating in the light guide plate 12 by being emitted from the light source 14 at an angle larger than a total reflection critical angle to the surface, and the lens sheet 16 once condenses the light reflected by the prism 18 and emitted from the light guide plate 12 and diverges it afterward.
