Title:
LIGHTING SYSTEM AND DISPLAYER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3861758
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively employ the light emitted from an organic EL layer as an illumination light compared with a conventional organic EL element.
SOLUTION: In a backlight 13, an organic EL element 23 is constituted by sequentially laminating a first electrode 24, an organic EL layer 25 and a second electrode 26 from the side of a substrate 22 side on the substrate 22, and the opposite side from the substrate 22 on the organic EL element 23 is the take-out direction of the light. The organic EL element 23 is coated with a passivation film 27 to prevent the the organic EL layer 25 from being exposed to the atmosphere. A reflecting member 28 is provided in the organic EL layer 25. The reflecting member 28 reflects the light of which the incident angle on the interface between the second electrode 26 and the organic EL layer 25 among the light emitted from the organic EL layer 25 is higher than a critical angle on the interface S, and changes the reflecting light of the reflecting light on the interface S such that the incident angle is less than the critical angle. The reflecting member 28 is composed by a wall arranged in the organic EL layer 25. The reflecting member 28 is formed in stripes at a prescribed interval.
