To solve problems that a conventional lighting system cannot sufficiently illuminate a periphery of a screen of an image display device, and effects of indirect illumination (reality or glare reduction) cannot be obtained sufficiently, and in particular, illuminance to a transverse direction of the screen is not sufficient.

A lighting system, which illuminates the periphery of a device such as the image display device, has a plurality of illumination parts with light sources mounted thereon, and a supporting part which supports the plurality of the illumination parts so that light from the plurality of the illumination parts respectively illuminate different areas of the periphery of the device.
