To provide a lighting system to be manufactured at low costs and capable of obtaining a lighting effect in both surfaces of a printed board.

This lighting system 10 includes: a plate-like printed board 20 formed with a slit 22 passing through the thickness from one surface to the opposite surface; and light emitting members 30 arranged inside the slit 22 so as to be seen from both surfaces of the printed board 20. The light emitting members are arranged, facing a direction nearly crossing the direction, in which the slit 22 passes through, and emits the light sideward. A plurality of light emitting members 30 are arranged along the longitudinal direction of the printed board 20.
