To make a socket difficult to be thermally deteriorated even through the incomplete contact condition of a lamp pin is caused.
This lighting system consists of: a socket 2 mounted by making lamp pins 1a contact with contact pieces 6 by a fluorescent lamp 1, on which plural lamp pins 1a are standingly provided; a high frequency lighting device 3 connected to the socket 2 to light a fluorescent lamp 1, and a starting capacitor 4 electrically connected between both ends of the fluorescent lamp 1. The contact piece 6a, connected to the lighting device 3, is protruded to a rotation start side in mounting the fluorescent lamp 1, so that the contact pieces 6a sides, connected to the lighting device 3, can be contacted earlier than the contact piece 6b side, connected to the starting capacitor 4, in timing where the lamp pin 1a of the fluorescent lamp 1 and the contact pieces 6 of the socket 2 are contacted, in mounting the fluorescent lamp 1 on the socket 2.
