To obtain the subject fabric by weaving at least two kinds of fibers differing in fibrillation tendency from each other followed by fibrillation treatment to give a pattern afforded by raised portions due to the fibrillation and non-raised portions.
This lightly raised-toned fabric is obtained by the following process: at least two kinds of fibers differing in fibrillation tendency from each other, such as polyester fibers, polyamide fibers and/or viscose rayon fibers, for example, cupra rayon fibers as easy-to-fibrillate fibers, and as hard-to- fibrillate fibers, such fibers as to be obtained by crosslinking treatment of the cupra rayon fibers with a compound having two or more functional groups reactive to the cupra rayon fibers (e.g. an N-methylol compound), are woven into a fabric which, in turn, is put into a jet dyeing machine where the fabric is subjected to relaxation treatment in an alkaline bath, neutralized and washed with water, and then dyed.
