Abstract:
PURPOSE: To prevent the reflection of light having the color of Al and to obtain a surface having a hue matched with nature by roughening the surface of the Al material with jetted alumina particles and immersing the Al material in a Ca-contg. alkaline aq. soln. at a high temp.
CONSTITUTION: Alumina particles of 80-100 mesh size are jetted on the surface of an Al material to roughen the surface. The Al material is then immersed in a Ca-contg. alkaline aq. soln. at a high temp. to obtain a dark-gray surface having ≤30% reflectance and ≤5.5 Munsell lightness by etching.
