To provide a lightning arrester capable of preventing lightning damage by preventing certainly flashover of lightning surge current caused by ground discharge, to provide a structural pillar having lightning arresting function, and to provide a reduction method of lightning surge voltage.
The lightning arrester 1 to make lightning surge current I flow caused by ground discharge 7 is structured to have a steel pipe 3, a conductor 4 arranged coaxially in this steel pipe 3, and a filling material 10 having conductivity which is filled between the steel pipe 3 and the conductor 4. Thereby, the lightning surge current I flowing in the lightning arrester 1 is branched, and its low frequency component IL flows in the conductor 4 and its high frequency component IH is made to flow in the steel pipe 3 outside the conductor 4 and the filling material 10.
