Title:
LIGHTWEIGHT JACK STRUCTURAL BODY FOR VEHICLE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH07186905
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a structural member which is strong enough to withstand and support compressive and tensile loads produced by lifting of a vehicle, e.g. an automobile, by manufacturing load-bearing elements from a polymer material reinforced with lint.

CONSTITUTION: At least some of elements are substantially under compressive load when a jack is in use, and substantially all the elements subject to load are made basically from a polymer material reinforced with lint. A vehicle jack 10 has a pair of lower arms 11, 12 of U-shaped cross section and a pair of U-shaped upper arms 13, 14. The lower ends of the arms 11, 12 are supported against the base 20 of the vehicle jack 10 and the upper ends of the arms 11, 12 are screw parts 15, 16 of the vehicle jack 10. The lower ends of the upper arms 13, 14 are screw parts 15, 16 and the upper ends of the upper arms 13, 14 are means for engagement with the edges of a frame at the bottom of the vehicle. Therefore, no appreciable losses in operating efficiency occur.
