PURPOSE: To reduce moment of inertia of a needle thread take-up thereby reducing force of inertia and frictional heat due to rotation of the take-up by offsetting the center of gravity of the take-up from the center thereof to the take-up support axis side of an end thereof and defining a space in the central portion of the take-up.
CONSTITUTION: In a needle thread take-up of a sewing machine, for example, in a slide take-up 30, a needle's eye 12 is bored in one of its ends and a take-up support axis 10 is provided on the other end thereof, and the take-up 30 is rotatably mounted in the sewing machine. In this case, the take-up 30 is so formed as to define an elongate rhombic space therein and the take-up 30 on one side of a line connecting points B, C on opposite sides of the central portion of the take-up, is formed thin and the take-up on the opposite side of the line is formed thick. That is, the weight of the take-up 30 is made heavier as the distance from the axis 10 decreases so that the center of gravity 40 is offset to the axis 10 from the central portion of the take-up. As a result, moment of inertia of the take-up 30 is reduced and force of inertia and frictional heat due to rotation of the take-up is reduced.
