PURPOSE: To manufacture a lightweight wear-resistant member in which the sliding part is provided with wear resistance by subjecting an alloy powder mixed body constituted of Mg and Al and a composite material powder green compact of which the mixed body is incorporated with boron or the like to integral compacting and sintering and regulating only the sintered part of the composite material as the sliding part.

CONSTITUTION: An alloy powder mixed body 2 essentially constituted of at least one kind of the two elements of Mg and Al is formed. Furthermore, at least one kind among boron, boron carbide, silicon carbide, aluminum oxide and silicon nitride, by about 1 to 30vol.%, is incorporated into the above alloy powder mixed body 2 to form a composite material powder green compact 1. Next, the alloy powder mixed body 2 and the composite material powder green compact 1 are integrally compacted and sintered under about 1 to 8t/cm2 pressure to form a member in which the sintered body of the composite material powder green compact 1 is used only for sliding. In this way, the lightweight wear-resistant member in which the sliding part is provided with wear resistance can be obtd.
