To resolve the problem of the distinction between actually continuously written strokes and strokes written virtually continuously by connecting being not reflected, because of the same weight of actual stroke and virtual stroke, at the time of stroke connection and the recognition precision of characters (for example, 'ko' and 'te' in Japanese syllabary) which are made similar in writing stroke connection is reduced in an on-line character recognition device using conventional inter stroke information.
The character recognition device is realized which gives different weights to actual strokes and virtual strokes at the time of stroke connection to reflect the distinction between actually continuously written strokes and virtually connected strokes and suppresses a adverse effects of stroke connection to recognize characters of continuous strokes with high accuracy.
