PURPOSE: To obtain a compact and inexpensive on-line character recognizer containing a printer which needs no form, by using a temperature-sensitive sheet and a temperature pen at a writing part and also a temperature-sensitive sheet at a display part and displaying the result of character recognition via a thermal head.
CONSTITUTION: An on-line character recognizer is provided with a flexible temperature-sensitive sheet 1, a temperature pen 2, a thermal head 3, a thermal head driving part 4, a heat-sensitive form 6, etc. The characters, etc. are written by the pen 2 through a coordinate input board 11 set on the sheet 1, and the loci of characters are sensed by the discoloration due to the sheet 1. At the same time, the pen position information supplied through the board 11 is detected and supplied to a coordinate detecting circuit, etc. Thus the detected characters are written on the sheet 1 by the head 3 and the pen 2. Furthermore, these characters are written on the form 6 by a thermal head 3'. The written characters can be erased by absorbing the heat of a high temperature part of the sheet 1 by a roller 10 and the part 4.
