PURPOSE: To collectively execute editing operation and to improve operability by selecting the whole object to be edited as an object to be edited when the coordinate information of the hand-written strokes is included within the positional coordinates of the object to be edited.
CONSTITUTION: Stroke coordinate information detected by a coordinate input device 1 and a stylus pen 2 is inputted to a hand-writing recognizing processor 9 and the input is learned by a threshold learning means 4 to calculate a threshold and separated into a character stroke or a graphic stroke by a stroke separating means 3. The character stroke and the graphic stroke are respectively separatively transmitted to a character recognizing means 5 for recognizing a hand-written character and a graphic recognizing means 6 for recognizing a hand-written graphic and displayed through a character/graphic display means 7. When a hand-written stroke is inputted, its coordinate information is compared with the coordinate information of the object to be edited, and when both the information exists within the same coordinate information, the whole object to be edited is selected as an object to be edited.
