Abstract:

To provide a line head which can print a natural picture by controlling a single line array of light emitting diodes in terms of gradation, and an imaging device using the line head.

In this line head 10, a light emitting diode line 1 comprises a plurality of the arrayed light emitting diodes Ea and the light emitting diodes of the light emitting diode line 1 are divided into "n" pieces each (in this example, 128 pieces) of blocks (in this case, 0 to 39 blocks totaling 40 blocks). Each block is selected by a shift register circuit and specified image data are supplied to the light emitting diodes of the selected block. The data structure of this image data is such that variable density data are binarized to time data by on-off operation and the gradation control is performed by controlling the luminescence time of the light emitting diode.
