Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an improved linear electron beam tube constitutional body. CONSTITUTION: An induction output quadrupole tube is provided with a cylindrical ceramic envelope body 1 and an electron gun comprising a cathode 2 and a grid 3 is installed in the envelope. A resonance input cavity surrounds the envelope body 1, is installed adjacently to the electron gun, provides a modulated electric field to the cathode-grid region, and generates the density modulation of the electron beam. The cavity 7 is connected with two metal cylinders 10, 14 adjacently arranged directly in the outside face of the envelope body 1. The metal parts 12, 15 installed in the envelope body 1 are extended coaxially with the cylinders 10, 14 and a material of the envelope body 1 is placed between them. Those parts work as a high frequency choke to lessen the high frequency loss. Tuning of the resonance cavity is carried out by adjusting a tuning member 8 and the member 8 is positioned at a point parted from the cathode-grid region at 1/4 of he wavelength of the resonance frequency.
