To prevent an irreversible compression loss from occurring in a reverse piston chamber in a coil-movable type linear compressor and moreover make the position of the center of the stroke of the piston invariable.
A coil-movable type linear compressor having compression chambers 2, 3 respectively on the two sides of a housing 1 is provided with a piston shaft 12 fixed at the two ends respectively to a first piston 5 and a second piston 10, a bottomed cylindrical movable body 13 fixed integrally to the piston shaft 12, and coil springs 20, 21 provided respectively on the two sides of the movable body 13 and providing elastic support to the housing 1 in a manner of enabling the first and second pistons 5, 10 to reciprocate inside cylinders 6, 9 respectively. The respective insides of the first piston 5, piston shaft 12, and second piston 10 communicate in a hollow state and a reverse chamber 31 of the first piston 5 and a reverse chamber 33 of the second piston 10 communicate with each other.
