Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable instantaneous and powerful braking even during high speed conveyance without requiring an outer command by providing a brake mechanism with mechanical braking force generated by strong pressure between a brake shoe and a brake pad caused by the gravity of a conveyed article even at the time of the failure of a braking device or power failure.

CONSTITUTION: At the travel time, a brake pad 31 provided at the upper part of the one end of a suspension frame 19 is spaced from a brake shoe 4 disposed at the lower face of a guide rail 1, so that mechanical braking force does not work. On the other hand, at the time of facing such unexpected situation as inoperativeness due to the failure of a magnetic braking device or power failure, magnetic floating force between a primary coil 2 and a permanent magnet 17 is lost, and the suspension frame 19 is rotated clockwise around a fulcrum pin 18 by the gravity of suspended load. As a result, the brake pad 31 is brought into strong contact with the brake shoe 4, so that physical braking force is operated, and a travel body 10 stops in due course. Hereupon, the braking force at the time of emergency can be set optionally by the lever ratio between the distances from the pin fulcrum 18 to the center of the brake pad 31 and to a suspension rod 22.
