Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a linear motion actuator for a continuously variable transmission, capable of improving operating efficiency by preventing/suppressing the jamming of balls associated with a mutual lead difference between a nut and a screw shaft.SOLUTION: A linear motion actuator 7 for moving a driving pulley 3 of the continuously variable transmission includes a ball screw mechanism 10 having a nut 11 provided in a housing 13 and having a thread groove 11a formed in the inner peripheral face, a screw shaft 12 inserted through the nut 11 and having a thread groove 12b formed in the outer peripheral face, and a plurality of balls mounted in a spiral rolling path constructed by both thread grooves of the nut 11 and the screw shaft 12. The ball screw mechanism 10 has a nut side circulation part for the plurality of balls to circulate on the nut side, where the thread groove 11a of the nut 11 is formed only as one circuit in a range of smaller than 360° around the axis.
