A linear motion guide device 1 is provided with a guide rail 3, a slider, and a friction addition unit 6. The guide rail 3 is provided with a rolling body rolling groove 8. The slider and the friction addition unit 6 are incorporated in the guide rail 3. The friction addition unit 6 is provided with a unit body 15, a brake member 16, a hydraulic cylinder 17, and a tension coil spring 18. The brake member 16 is arranged facing the side 3a of the guide rail 3, and brought into contact with a part except the rolling body rolling groove 8 of the side 3a. The hydraulic cylinder 17 presses the brake member 16 against the side 3a of the guide rail 3. The tension coil spring 18 is elastically energized in a direction in which the brake member 16 is separated away from the guide rail 3.
