To provide a linear motor type clamp moving mechanism free from intrusion of metal scraps such as punching scraps and having smaller height dimension.
A pair of strip-like linear motor stators 1, 1 is disposed in parallel while being vertically spaced apart from each other, linear motor movers 2, 2 are disposed in a space between these linear motor stators 1, 1, and a bracket 7 for supporting the linear motor movers 2 is connected to a clamp 3. One side end parts of the linear motor stators 1, 1 are closed by a belt 12 so that the bracket 7 is movable in the longitudinal direction of the linear motor stator 1. Accordingly, the linear motor type clamp moving mechanism can make the height dimension smaller compared with the conventional one, which disposes the linear motor stators in the longitudinal direction, and the belt 12 can prevent metal scraps such as punching scraps from intruding on the inner travelling surface of the linear motor.
