Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner which has well balanced physical properties and particularly has excellent non-offsetting property and glossiness, and to provide a linear polyester resin for the toner and a method for manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION: The linear polyester resin for the toner contains 3-10C aliphatic diol at 10 to 60 mol parts per 100 mol parts of total carboxylic acid component, has a glass transition temperature ranging from 50 to 75°C, a softening temperature ranging from 150 to 220°C, and an acid value ≤10 mgKOH/g. The toner contains the resin as a binder. The method for manufacturing the linear polyester resin for the toner comprises: bringing the dicarboxylic acid component and diol component into esterification reaction at a temperature ranging from 250 to 280°C under pressure ranging from 200 to 500 kPa; and subjecting the components to condensation polymerization at a temperature ranging from 250 to 350°C and higher by ≥5°C than the esterification temperature under pressure below 1 kPa.
