To provide an inexpensive lining material for fishing reel with high durability, capable of mildly adjusting drag force in a wide range and suitably applied for fishing reel which utilizes thin fishing line.
The lining material 52 for fishing reel is assembled in a drag mechanism which winds and keeps the fishing line on a spool 12 supported on a reel body by the rotation of a handle 34 rotatably supported on frames 14a, 14b of the reel body and which allows rotation of the spool to the delivery direction of the fishing line in a wound state and forms a friction braking force on the spool in the rotation to the delivery direction of the fishing line, wherein the lining material is composed of fibers at least having a 10mm length and formed into a thin plate shape and the surface has a raised layer 62 formed by directly raising the fibers.
