Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a lip treatment composition for topical application to lips, capable of delivering to mouth or throat, especially tooth and gum in the form in which an active compound is dissolved through lip-licking action or drinking action. CONSTITUTION: This lip treatment composition is obtained by formulating a base comprising oil, water and a structurant (e.g. a thickener or a gelling agent) with at least one kind of active ingredient which is active on lip, gums, tooth, throat and oral mucosa, preferably an anticaries agent, an anticalculus agent, an antiplaque agent, a metal ion, cation, gluconic acid chlorhexidine, an antigingivitis gent, an anti-inflammatory agent of a mixture thereof, especially preferably the metal ion or anticaries agent and further preferably, a material which is soluble or slightly soluble in water, e.g. zinc or a fluoride as essential ingredients. The composition can, further or as the structurant, contain an emulsifier, especially phospholipid, glyceride or their derivatives, preferably in an amount of 0.2-30wt.%, especially 0.2-20wt.% based on the composition.
