Abstract:
PURPOSE: To effectively prevent the generation of rust at the outer ring of a lip type seal and the generation of metallic powder when the outer ring is caulked.
CONSTITUTION: The rear end of an outer ring 20 containing a caulked part is covered with an elastomer film 14 integrally formed in such a state to extend from the outside diameter part of a lip member 10 made of an elastomer. The outer ring 20 is rotated around the axis thereof and the outer peripheral surface of a roller 101 having a central axis 102 being movable over a plane extending through an axis and angularly displaced is brought into contact with the outer peripheral surface of the rear end of the outer ring 20. The rear end of the outer ring 20 is bent in the direction of an inside diameter in a way that the central axis 102 of the roller 101 is displaced over a plane from a position approximately paralleling an axis to a position crossing the axis approximately at right angles.
