Title:
LIQUEFACTION OF COAL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3287684
Kind Code:
B
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To liquefy coal at improved efficiency of liquefaction reaction by using a ground iron ore having a specified mean particle diameter and mechanically ground in a recirculated liquefied coal solvent as the liquefaction catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: Ground coal, a recirculated liquefied coal solvent, a catalyst, component having a mean particle diameter of 10μm or below and obtained by grinding an iron ore such as natural pyrite in a solvent and recovered sulfur are fed to a slurry preparation tank 1 and formed into a slurried mixture. This mixture together with added hydrogen gas is passed through a preheater 2, sent to a reactor 3 and reacted at about 380-480°C under a pressure of about 6-25MPa for about 10-60min. The reaction mixture is sent to a gas/liquid separator 4 to separate a gaseous component. The residue is sent to a desulfurizer 5 to recover sulfur and sent to the slurry preparation tank 1. The liquid and solid components left in the gas/liquid separator 4 are separated into a light oil, a middle oil, and a heavy oil in a distillation tower 6, and part of the middle and heavy oil in a fed as a recirculated liquefied coal solvent to the slurry preparation tank 1. An iron ore is ground in the middle and heavy oils fed to the grinder, and the ground ore is sent to the slurry preparation tank 1.
