Title:
POURING/STORING OF LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS INTO/IN VERY DEEP UNDERGROUND CAVITY IN BEDROCK
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3291509
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method of pouring and storing LNG in a very deep, underground cavity surrounded by bedrocks.
CONSTITUTION: By means of a wet excavation method, in which mud water from the ground is used, a cavity 2 is formed in bedrocks situating at deep, underground, and then the mud water within the cavity 2 is removed to replace it with an antifreezing liquid 7. By cooling the antifreezing liquid 7 within the cavity 2, a bedrock layer, with which a wall surface of the cavity 2 is formed, is frozen to a specified depth. After the bedrock is frozen, the antifreezing liquid 7 is removed from the cavity 2, and then liquefied natural gas(LNG) is poured into the cavity 2 and stored therein. In short, the cavity 2 is formed first, the mud water 6 is replaced with the antifreezing liquid 7 next, the antifreezing liquid 7 is cooled in order to form a frozen bedrock region 5, the antifreezing liquid 7 is removed, and then LNG 8 is poured in. With this, the quantity of boil-off gas generated at the early period of storage can be reduced. At the same time, the construction period can be shortened, and construction cost can be reduced. In addition, the frozen bedrock region 5 forming the cavity 2 exhibits gas-tightness and liquid-tightness so that appropriateness of can be expected.
