To provide a liquid absorbing sheet for food by which absorption capacity of dripping liquid of fresh fishery products and meat or the like is large and as a result, absorbing diffusion area is small and absorptivity is excellent and liquid absorbing performance suitable for preservation of fresh food is shown and food is refrigerated even in refrigerating preservation while moisture is positively absorbed from food and good refrigeration little in tissue breakage is realized and freshness is kept without causing a flaw in the outward appearance of perishable foods and also even when plenty foodstuffs are packed, dripping liquid is prevented from being diffused and oozing out to the outside of the sheet.
The sheet 11 consists of a water-permeable facing 13, the absorption body 15 of an intermediate layer and a water nonpermeable second-surface material 17. Absorbing paper, in which carboxymethyl cellulose or carboxyethyl cellulose is used as base material and both water-soluble or water-hard soluble inorganic powder and water-dispersive fiber for paper making are contained, is used for the absorption body of the sheet 11.
