To provide a liquid application device which prevents the clogging of a passage for supplying or recovering a liquid and the generation of application anomalies and which increases the application stability, to provide a method therefor and to provide an image formation device.

The liquid application device is provided with an application member having the coating surface to apply the liquid on the medium and a retention member for retaining the liquid at the liquid retention space formed by bringing the member into contact with the coating surface of the application member, and which applies the liquid supplied to the coating surface with the retention member by rotating the coating surface of the application member. The device is further provided with a storage means to store the liquid, first and second passages communicating with the storage means and the retention member, and a liquid transferring means to generate the stream of the liquid at the first and second passages as well as the passage containing the liquid retention space. In the storage means, a liquid regeneration means to regenerate the liquid by removing unnecessary materials included in the liquid is installed. Thus, the above problem can be solved.
