A liquid composition for an oral cavity is prepared by compounding each specified amount of a dihydric alcohol having 3 or 4 structural carbon atoms such as propylene glycol, 1,3-butylene glycol and 1,3-propane diol, with glycerin, a p-hydroxybenzoate ester, and water, and by controlling the osmotic pressure of the composition to a specified range.
