Abstract:
To provide hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (HPMC) having high solubility, even when the same has a degree of substitution (DS) of methoxy groups and a molar substitution (MS) of hydroxypropoxy groups which are the same as those in the conventional art.SOLUTION: There are provided: HPMC having a molar substitution (MS) of hydroxypropoxy groups from 0.1 to 0.5; a ratio ("MF at 3-position/MS") of 0.12 or more, as calculated by dividing a molar fraction ("MF at 3-position") of anhydroglucose units in which only a hydroxy group at the 3-position carbon is substituted with a hydroxypropoxy group and none of hydroxy groups at the 2-position and 6-position carbons are substituted with hydroxypropoxy groups by the molar substitution of hydroxypropoxy groups; and viscosity at 20°C of from 1.0 to 50 mPa s as measured in a 2 mass% aqueous solution; a liquid composition comprising at least the HPMC and an organic solvent; and a method for producing a coated formulation and the like, comprising at least a step for coating a core part comprising at least an active ingredient with a liquid composition, thereby producing the coated formulation.SELECTED DRAWING: None
