Abstract:

To provide an liquid crystal aligning agent, by which a liquid crystal alignment film can be obtained which has resistance to peeling and grinding when the alignment film is rubbed, has excellent liquid crystal aligning ability, has high voltage holding ratio, and is less likely to accumulate initial charge even if DC voltage is applied to the alignment film.

The liquid crystal aligning agent comprises at least one polymer selected from: a polyamic acid obtained by reacting diamine that contains a diamine compound containing a crown ether structure and an aromatic ring with tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride; and a polyimide obtained by imidizing the polyamic acid.
