To provide a liquid crystal device wherein difference between chromaticities of transmission display and reflection display can be suppressed according to environmental light.
The liquid crystal device is provided with a liquid crystal display panel, an illumination device, a light sensor and a light source control means. In the liquid crystal display panel, one sub pixel is constituted of a transmission region and a reflection region. The illumination device has a plurality of light sources respectively emitting beams having colors different from each other and irradiates the liquid crystal display panel with the beams. The light sensor detects respective light intensities of a plurality of wavelength components of the environmental light. The light source control means sets the chromaticity of beams emitted by the illumination device to be coincident with the chromaticity of the environmental light by adjusting optical intensities of the plurality of light sources for every color based on the light intensities of the plurality of wavelength components. Thereby, difference between chromaticities of transmission display and reflection display can be suppressed according to the environmental light.
