Abstract:

To enhance response speed of liquid crystal molecules.

A wall part 90 reduces propagation of hydrodynamical movement of the liquid crystal molecules to those of other pixels. With the aid of the wall part 90, the liquid crystal molecules in each pixel are driven only with a lateral electric field in the pixel, and rise and fall of the liquid crystal molecules in driving are conducted at high speed corresponding to switching between application and non-application of the lateral electric field, and the liquid crystal molecules are driven at high speed. In other words, the liquid crystal molecules in each pixel 9a are driven at high speed without being induced by driving of liquid crystal molecules in other pixels adjacent to the corresponding pixel 9a and consequently response of the liquid crystal molecules is enhanced.
