PURPOSE: To realize the miniaturization and low cost of a liquid crystal device by performing the temperature control of a ferrodielectric liquid crystal element used in the liquid crystal device by utilizing heat generated in the device.
CONSTITUTION: An air hole 104 with the outside of the device is provided at the upper part at the back plane side of an armor case 121, and furthermore, an air hole cover 106 to open/close the air hole 104 is mounted in such a way that it can be turned freely at one terminal and it can be held at a prescribed release position. A cylindrical fan 102 is mounted at a part corresponding to the air hole 104 in the inside of an FLCD 100. Therefore, when the temperature of the device inside is uniformalized by always rotating the fan 102 and the temperature of an FLC panel 101 goes up to prescribed temperature, the air hole cover 106 is opened, and the increment of temperature is suppressed by opening the air hole 104, thereby, the temperature of the FLC panel 101 is controlled within a prescribed temperature range.
