A pair of substrates with transparent electrodes obtained by laminating a transparent electrode film, a transparent electrode protection film and an alignment layer in order on at least one of the substrates is arranged at a prescribed interval so that the respective transparent electrodes may face each other. A liquid crystal is sealed in a gap formed between the pair of the substrates with the transparent electrodes, and a gap at the peripheral parts of the transparent electrodes are sealed up with a sealing agent to be closed tightly. In the liquid crystal display cell obtained like this, the surface resistance of a seal part formed as the result of hardening of the sealing agent ranges 1010 to 1013 Ω/(square).
