To provide a translucent liquid crystal display device capable of obtaining excellent display characteristics in both transmission and reflection modes, as to the translucent liquid crystal display device capable of displaying images in both the transmission and reflection modes and a method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device.
The liquid crystal display device is constituted of a pair of substrates, a liquid crystal display panel 80 having a liquid crystal layer sealed between the substrates, a pixel area provided with a reflection area having a reflector for reflecting light made incident from one side of the substrates and a transmission area for transmitting light made incident from the other side of the substrates to one side of the substrates, a back light unit 88 provided with a reflector 90 and a light guide board 86 to reflect light made incident on the transmission area from one side of the substrates and transmitted through the transmission area and make the reflected light incident on the transmission area again from the other side of the substrate, and a color filter layer formed only on the transmission area out of the pixel area.
