To provide a liquid crystal display device which has excellent display quality by enhancing the accuracy of slow axis of a phase differential layer to avoid the risk of flaw or generation of foreign matter related to rubbing processing of an alignment layer, a manufacturing method thereof, and electronic equipment.
The liquid crystal display device 100 includes a first substrate 10, a second substrate 20, and a liquid crystal layer 30 located between the first substrate 10 and the second substrate 20. The liquid crystal display device 100 further includes a first orientation electrode 42 and a second orientation electrode 44 disposed on the first substrate 10, and a phase difference layer 40 disposed in a predetermined area on the first substrate 10 so as to cover the first orientation electrode 42 and the second orientation electrode 44, the phase difference layer being formed by curing an optical or thermosetting material with orientation by an electric field generated between the first orientation electrode 42 and the second orientation electrode 44.
