Abstract:
To provide a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the device, which is excellent in alignment controllability of liquid crystal molecules and can be driven at a low voltage, while preventing various problems caused by a rubbing process.
The liquid crystal display device uses a polymer brush as an alignment layer. The method for manufacturing the liquid crystal display device includes steps of: forming a polymer brush on a substrate; injecting a liquid crystal into a space between substrates where the polymer brush is formed; and aligning the liquid crystal by a non-contact aligning method.
