Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent delay of display by sufficiently increasing a response speed even at a low temperature.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device 1 for a vehicle includes: a voltage application unit 3 which preliminarily turns on a liquid crystal display by an application voltage between an upper limit application voltage lower than a maximum application voltage and a lower limit application voltage higher than a minimum application voltage and, on switching of display on the liquid crystal display, applies the maximum application voltage or the minimum application voltage to the liquid crystal display; a response time detection unit 7 which detects a response time required to reach a target application voltage, on the basis of the temperature of the liquid crystal display; and a voltage switching unit 9 which, after passage of the response time, switches the maximum application voltage or the minimum application voltage applied to the liquid crystal display, to the target application voltage.
